It was an honor to capture this Big Sur surprise proposal photoshoot. When Ian reached out to me about his surprise proposal plans, I was super excited to hear all about his vision! Ian had his heart set on proposing to his dream girl in her favorite place in the world: Big Sur. Can you blame her? Big Sur is seriously the most beautiful place and it’s one of my favorite places to for the perfect surprise proposal photoshoot! Ian shared with me that early on in their relationship, they had visited Big Sur and since then it’s held such a special place in their hearts so, of course, we planned the perfect Big Sur surprise proposal for these two in their favorite place! Big Sur Proposal Photographer

I had been in communication with Ian for a while, scouting locations in Big Sur and putting together a game plan for this surprise proposal. It’s safe to say our planning and preparation paid off, and it was well worth it to see the reaction on Kathryn’s face when Ian got down on one knee and popped the question! There was essentially no one on the trail when he proposed, making it that much more intimate and special.

When did you know Katherine was the one?

There wasn’t one specific moment, but soon after we went to Big Sur the first time. The more time I spent with her, the more I wanted to be with her. I’ve never been with anyone like her, and pretty quickly couldn’t imagine being with anyone but her!

How did you decide you were going to propose?

A few months back. I knew I wanted to marry her for a while. As much as she loves Big Sur, I thought it was the perfect opportunity!

What do you love most about your partner?

Many things, but her loving nature, understanding and silliness are some of the top.
