I am so excited to share Samantha and Zachary’s Portland, Maine destination wedding at The Barn at Flanagan Farm!
How They Met
Samantha and Zachary’s love story was total fate, and it is an absolutely amazing story! They first met working at paper source together. One of them ended up moving on to another job, and then 5 years later they walked past one another on the streets of NYC and caught eyes on the street. It was like fate for them to see one another again! He is from Maine and she is from Massachusetts, but both happened to be in NYC for school. She contacted him via Facebook and they reconnected that way. And the rest is history! How cool is that?!
The Proposal
I met Zach via Craigslist when I first moved to Monterey. He was proposing to his girlfriend at Pfeiffer Beach in Big Sur (they were traveling south for a wedding) and he was looking for a photographer. We hung out together, and got to know one another and then set up everything for the proposal. I waited at the beach until he arrived and I very secretly photographed him proposing! It was amazing! She was so shocked and in love and crying! We wandered the beach taking photos and I mentioned I was a bicoastal (East and West Coast). They hired me for their wedding a week later!
About Zachary and Samantha
Aside from their love of each other, Zach is also really into photography. They have this thing that they do often where they photograph each other doing the “follow me to”…. He is very talented and they do this wherever they go, so for both their engagement and wedding, I integrated this into the shots. It was so much fun, and I love that that is part of their story.
There are so many things I love about both Samantha and Zach. She’s soo organized and thorough, and he is so in love with her and so smart. As a couple, they make each other stronger and complement each other in so many different ways. They are the exact kind of couple that I love working with. They were very intentional in everything they did and selected for their wedding. Samantha and Zach made their wedding into a total dream come true!
Their Flanagan Farm Maine Wedding
The night before their Barns at Flanagan Farm wedding, I photographed their rehearsal dinner and met everyone. The entire wedding was well-themed for Maine and so of course, lobster was everywhere. Yum!
There were so many special details for this wedding, it was just to-die-for, perfect in every way. The location, the weather, the details were all AMAZING! Besides all of the nods to the perfect Maine theme with lots of lobster throughout (his cufflinks were lobsters as a gift from her), the barn was rustic; there were antique glasses; her dress was from BHLDN; her bracelets along with her mothers are actually the ends of their wedding gowns dipped in metal! So cool. Samantha’s was from her mother’s gown and her mother’s bracelet is from the grandmother’s gown. Their rings were also made by a friend who’s a jeweler. Their ceremony was a Jewish ceremony – the alter (chuppa) had her grandfather’s cloth above it which has been in the family for generations.
From start to finish, their wedding was uniquely theirs. It was absolutely stunning. Enjoy some of my favorite images from their Portland, Maine wedding below!
