It is an honor photographing each couple’s precious moment, and even more so for a couple who I’ve had the chance to do multiple milestone photoshoots with so today we’re going to talk about two of my favorite people! Samantha and Zach chose me for their proposal, engagement session, wedding, AND one-year anniversary photoshoot! Having this type of connection with my couples means so much to me, and I am so grateful to be trusted in this way.
The Proposal
When I first moved to California from Pennsylvania, I had to start my photography business over from scratch. I only knew a couple of people on the West Coast, and I needed to find a way to promote myself. So, in a pinch, I decided to promote my services on Craigslist. Zach found me on Craigslist in 2014, and a quick conversation revealed that he planned to travel with his girlfriend to Big Sur and propose to her. Especially being a local Big Sur proposal photographer, I was so excited for us to work together for his proposal in Big Sur!
The Wedding
The following year, they got married in Portland, Maine. I have never visited Maine, so it was truly a delight to be invited to their welcome and rehearsal dinner. I love being a destination photographer, so I flew in three days prior to the wedding to scout locations and become familiar with the venue. They served me fresh lobster and the entire family was so welcoming. I was even able to tour Portland a little!
The wedding itself was beautiful. Their Jewish wedding was hosted at Flanagan’s farm, complete with string lights and an old barn. Zach and Samantha were so happy and radiant with love.
The Anniversary
When Sam and Zach had their anniversary, they wanted to do another milestone photoshoot together to commemorate it. More adventures in being a destination photographer! I traveled out to where they lived, which was Brooklyn, New York, and photographed them by the bridge. It was so nice to be with them in their element and seeing their favorite places in town. I loved capturing their love, it’s my favorite thing about being a photographer!
Summary
Having special connections with my couples such an honor and privilege to me. They know me and trust me to capture their love together. They know what to expect and are comfortable with me. I, in turn, get to witness each of their special life moments for their milestone photoshoots. I’m so grateful for couples like this!
