Isabel and Zach’s Monterey wedding in Memory Garden was full of all the prettiest details. The two of them are just the sweetest bride and groom! Memory Garden is SUCH a beautiful outdoor event space and made for the perfect venue for this special day. I loved all the archways on the property. It had so many dreamy green tones with the flowers and leaves. Everything a Monterey wedding photographer loves! It definitely lives up to it’s name, Memory Garden, and it meant the world to me knowing that Isabel and Zach already trusted me and my work. How Did You Two Meet?

“We met in Managerial Accounting. I walked into class the first day freshly single after a tough break up over summer, and made it my mission to sit next to THE finest girl in the room. I made fun of her elaborate collection of highlighters. We exchanged contact info, and spent the next 18 months becoming best friends with zero physical contact. One evening when we were both single, I invited her over and made her dinner. Later on, we got engaged in Maui. It was on the beach during the sunset!! Isabel knew! All her friends told her it would happen. They were right 🙂 and the rest is history.” – Zach

We started the day getting ready at Portola Hotel & Spa. Blush Monterey was in charge of Isabel’s hair and make up and I love watching them work! They’re a regular vendor at many of the weddings I shoot as a Monterey wedding photographer so it’s always fun seeing familiar faces. Isabel and Zach’s moms were there for it all too as well as her bridal party. Getting ready is such a special time to get calm and collected. But also bubbly and excited! Isabel’s bridesmaids’ dresses were so gorgeous with their burgundy and rose tones, especially in contrast to the greens in Memory Garden.

And Isabel’s dress?! Or should I say dresses! I love when brides do a dress change! She switched from her ceremony gown to her evening gown in between the first dance and the dinner. Her first dress was from A&E Ceremonias, a boutique in Michoacan Mexico, and her second dress was designed by Provonius. The more the merrier when it comes to shooting gowns hanging in a window as a Monterey wedding photographer.

What Do You Love Most About Your Partner?

“I love the way she is so patient and understanding with me and with everyone she meets. She treats everyone with so much respect and care. I also love her laugh – the one that almost blurts out and doesn’t sound anything like her voice. That’s when you know you’ve really said something funny.” – Zach

“I love that he always knows how i’m feeling and why i’m feeling that way. We’re always on the same page and understanding of each other.” – Isabel

A special request Isabel and Zach made for their Monterey wedding in Memory Garden was a portrait adjacent to the Portola in the brick courtyard in front of Sovino’s Wine Bar. This courtyard is Zach’s favorite place in all of Monterey! I love when my couples bring these details to their special day. Especially when we’re able to capture that in dreamy film! Speaking of bars, Zach and Isabel had His & Her specialty cocktails, and the flowers on tables were specially made by Isabel’s mom! Sentimental touches like these really added to their Monterey wedding in Memory Garden.
