Abigail and Morgan’s Monterey wedding photography on June 19 at The Perry House was among the first few sessions in a record-breaking week! These two are currently living Portland, Oregon but they’ve also spent time in California, Washington, and Dublin, Ireland. How cool is that? They’ve been together for ten years now!

Abby works in development and communications for a non-profit law office that serves children and families in Portland. Morgan works as a commercial credit analyst for a local credit union. Their love story is the sweetest ever, and I adored every minute as their Monterey wedding photographer!

How Did You Two Meet?
“We met our very first week of college! We both attended St. Mary’s College of California and lived in the same dorm, Assumption Hall. We both played tennis in high school and ended up joining the club tennis team together. At the time, Morgan was recovering from surgery on his right shoulder and was playing left-handed (I still couldn’t beat him!). Three weeks later, we were dating! Flash forward to September on our 8th anniversary, we took our dog (named Cheddar) on a walk to a park in North Portland where the Columbia and Willamette rivers meet. We were sitting on the beach and exchanging anniversary gifts when Morgan pulled out the ring and asked me to marry him.” – Abigail

What Do You Love Most About Your Partner?
“What I love about Morgan is how much he makes me laugh. I feel like I can be an absolute weirdo around him and he will be a weirdo right back. He’s super friendly with everyone he meets, but is also always ready with a come back. On the first day he met my family, my sister was teasing him mercilessly and in response he gave her the nickname “fluffy whale”, which we still call her, and they haven’t stopped teasing each other. He is incredibly reliable, and will always help out when asked.
He’s been my car mechanic, IT support, and chauffeur for 8 years now! Morgan’s also obsessed with tennis (he would bring a tennis racket, tennis balls, and his phone if we got to pick things to be stranded on a desert island with!). He hoards tennis rackets, tennis shoes, and tennis-related t-shirts! But despite having to constantly find places in our apartments to stick his new rackets, I love that he has something he is so passionate about. He is incredibly sweet and always supportive. Plus, we like all the same TV shows. There is lots more to say… but I’ve got to save something for my vows!” – Abigail

“From the very beginning of our relationship I knew Abby was the one I would end up marrying. There is no one more supportive and caring then her. She has constantly been there for me through my shoulder injury, concussions, thumb injury, ankle injuries, back injury, and not to mention the fateful food poisoning incident! Abby is passionate about helping make the world a better place, and that passion has made me a better person. It has made me see things in new perspectives, and helped me find what I want to pursue in my Master’s degree and career. There is no one else in the world I want to travel with, and can’t wait for this pandemic to pass so we can pursue another adventure! Hopefully this next one won’t involve not showering for a week and pooping in a bucket.” – Morgan
Getting Ready At The Portola Hotel & Spa
Abby and Morgan’s Monterey wedding photography was full of their getting ready at the Portola Hotel & Spa. I love its blue and white tones from the new renovations! It’s right next to The Perry House, which made for quick and easy travel between venues. The detail shots were so sentimental and sweet with jewelry from Abby’s mom, Morgan’s tie clip, their wedding rings, and the vow books! Overall, getting ready was fun-filled and candid with toasts between the bride and her bridesmaids, and the groom and his groomsmen!

Monterey Wedding First Look Photographer
First looks serve as a special and intimate moment for the bride and groom before the craziness of the actual wedding begins. Abby and Morgan’s was in downtown Monterey at the Old Whaling Station. Her dress was this super gorgeous floral gown with a bow, and I loved her matching sunglasses that also had these floral accents. Abby was radiating ALL the modern luxury and chic bride vibes! Dressed to the nines, she was ready to make Morgan cry- and there were definitely some tears shed.

The Perry House In Monterey Wedding Photography
Morgan told me that Abby was a history major, so the fact that The Perry House is a historical home made a cool bonus as a venue! They really love the California coast and grew up going here on vacations. Since they wanted to bring their friends, who are spread out all over, together in a really beautiful place- Monterey was just perfect! The venue is so gorgeous and had such a fun vibe that really matched Abby and Morgan’s. The two of them are even staying in Carmel for a few days after the wedding as a mini-honeymoon!

I mentioned earlier that Morgan cried during the First Look, but there were lots of his heartfelt emotions shown in his vows and speeches, too. He’s absolutely in love with her! Both families were crying really- Dad during the speech, Mom at dinner- Morgan and Abby’s families really blended together in their Monterey wedding photography! It made the big day that much more special, not to mention, the team of awesome vendors too! If you’re looking for a Monterey wedding photographer, I’m your gal! Contact me here.
