To one of my best friends of nearly four years: Shannon, thank you for the honor of choosing me to photograph your and Tom’s dreamy sunset Big Sur engagement portraits! I loved every minute of this amazing day and I’m so grateful I got to share it with you two! Maybe it’s a little counter-intuitive to NOT save the best for last, but the portrait above is definitely my favorite photo from the shoot! Isn’t it breathtaking?

For those of you who don’t know, Shannon is a superstar and a local Monterey photographer like yours truly. She and her fiancé Tom got engaged this past year but due to COVID, the chance to photograph the occasion kept bouncing around the calendars. Until now!

Setting The Stage For These Sunset Big Sur Engagement Portraits

Finally, Shannon and Tom were able to nail down a date for their sunset Big Sur engagement portraits. I can’t fully express what an honor it is for me both as a local Big Sur photographer but also because Shannon is so near and dear to me, this session was my everything! Short and sweet. She and I spend a lot of time together scouting out new, exciting and exclusive locations for our couple’s special occasions. To then turn that around and use one of Big Sur’s many hidden gems was great and so much fun!

I can’t get over the colors in these dreamy sunset Big Sur engagement portraits! Shannon’s gorgeous emerald green wrap dress (by Baltic Born) is so striking and Tom looked so dapper in a classic white button-up and black slacks. Her ring (from VRAI Fine Jewelry) is absolutely beautiful too- I love the teardrop shape! The sunset lit up their portraits so romantically and really adds this elegant touch to them.

Rain And Shine

After three crazy days of nonstop rain here in Big Sur, we had just PERFECT weather for Shannon and Tom’s Big Sur engagement portraits! I know rain can put a damper on plans but it ended up working out wonderfully. Nothing’s stopping this awesome couple! I’m so happy for you both, Shannon and Tom. I can’t wait to see what the future brings for your wedding day and life together as partners!
