Cory hired me a few months in advance to photograph his surprise proposal in Sonoma to Whitney! He knew he wanted to get down on one knee and pop the question at their favorite winery in the area, Scribe Winery. They both love Scribe for the tasty wines, of course, and because it’s absolutely beautiful! While they’re not open as a regular venue, they were kind enough to make an exception for our special request and accommodate us. I’m incredibly thankful! Read on for all the smiles!

How Did You Two Meet?

“We met in high school, I went to the public school in Thousand Oaks, CA. Whitney went to the all girls catholic school in the same city. We were introduced by mutual friends, and the rest is history! I love how caring she is and how she truly brings out the best in me. Not just personally, but professionally and within our relationship. I’m definitely a softy and love loving her through gift giving and treating her to nice dinners/outings. Her being a total weirdo is what makes me laugh the most! I knew she was The One pretty much when we first started dating. Once we moved in together in San Francisco, I knew it was time.” – Cory

Sonoma Surprise Proposal

True to Cory’s words, Whitney is SO funny and personable! You can tell the two of them really adore each other! I loved photographing them right in between these beautiful palm trees at Scribe. Plenty of sunshine and a bright blue sky- it’s so perfectly the image of golden California magic! He told me that while Whitney knows a proposal is coming eventually, the timing/location will be a surprise. And what a surprise it was for her! The smiles say it all. He was expecting some shock but the reality started to settle in once they walked out to the vineyards. Even Cory himself teared up a little bit!

I also have to shoutout Whitney’s cute hat! It’s totally my style so I was happy to discover that we’re both hat girls! Cory and Whitney’s surprise proposal session in Sonoma was, in part, a product of a fourth/fifth generational friend that I’ve met. That is to say, as a destination photographer, I’m beyond grateful to people who recommend me to their friends and family.
