I love being a destination wedding photographer, and Erick and Katie’s wedding at the Park Savoy in New Jersey was a beautifully classic celebration. Both of them looked incredible, and every photograph expresses their love.
Erick and I have known each other since we were children. There’s a picture at my aunt’s home that describes us perfectly: he’s giving people high fives as he walks down the aisle and I look painfully shy with my hand clasped to my lips. As we’ve grown up together, our personalities have changed, but he has always been able to easily make friends. He is outgoing and likable, and he makes everyone laugh.
Their Love Story
Erick and Katie had mutual friends and connected through Facebook. After eight years, Erick proposed to her and I was able to photograph their engagement session at the New Jersey Botanical Gardens in Ringwood as well as the Skylands Manor. It was so beautiful capturing their love! Being a destination wedding photographer is such a joy because I can capture a couple’s love for each other wherever they are, whether it’s New Jersey or Monterey where I’m a local wedding photographer.
The Gown
Katie wore a high neckline wedding gown that had lace applique. She accompanied it with a pearl bracelet and earrings. Her bouquet was an elegant white with soft shades of green dispersed between and around. Erick wore a grey suit with black accents. Regardless of how tasteful their suit and dress choices were, it was their love that made them the most radiant in their photos. It was such an honor to be their classic wedding destination photographer!
Father Daughter First Look
When Katie and her dad had their first look, both of them were crying before they even saw each other. Photographing this moment felt sacred. There were so many emotions in the air, and when they saw each other, there was this sweet release.
The First Look
For Erick and Katie’s first look, they stood back to back as they read their handwritten vows to each other. Both of them were so emotional reading and listening to each other’s promises. After they read their vows, they turned around and embraced each other. Capturing this was truly so sweet!
Seton Hall Chapel Ceremony
Erick went to Seton Hall University, so naturally, they also got married at Seton Hall’s chapel. Katie stepped out of an incredible antique car before her ceremony and she was so alive with beauty. I personally love old vintage cars, everything and everyone in this photo is a joy!
After the ceremony, they had their reception at The Park Savoy. The Park Savoy has beautiful green gardens and colonial architecture outside, and inside was a large ballroom with hanging chandeliers. It was truly a gorgeous venue to photograph at for their classic wedding.
The Park Savoy Reception
One of the most exciting parts of the wedding was when a bongo drummer player came for the dancing. Special dancers also came in doing acrobatics! It was a huge wow factor for the guests. As a wedding photographer, it was amazing to capture their excitement!
Future Brides
One component of Erick and Katie’s wedding that I would recommend to future brides are the two-hour window between the ceremony and cocktail hour that they provided for portraits. Their desire was to photograph at multiple locations and not worry about missing the party. This gave us enough time to photograph film with them, and you guys, I am so proud of how these scans came out!
I can’t wait to do more destination wedding photography and I would love to photograph your East Coast wedding! Contact me here.
