Big Sur Engagement Photoshoot | Ana & Sam

I photographed Ana and Sam’s super romantic engagement photoshoot down in Big Sur! This photoshoot seriously had me feeling all the love!! We had a ton of fun during this Big Sur engagement photoshoot and captured some dreamy portraits along the coastline. These two have known each other since Kindergarten and are planning a spring wedding at Tehama! If this Big Sur engagement photoshoot is any indication of how beautiful their May wedding will be, I am over the moon excited for it!! Read on for more of this Big Sur shoot!

Ana and Sam wanted to do their engagement photos along the coastline since they are having their wedding at Tehama! So, we traveled all along the coastline to achieve these stunning engagement portraits. As their Big Sur wedding photographer, it was so nice to get to know Ana and Sam a little more during this time. They’re seriously so cute and told me they had made a pact in grade school that they would marry each other when they got older. Crazy enough, here they are!! A real full-circle moment! We adventured through Garapatta all evening. We walked along the coastline, climbed all the rocks, and ended our engagement shoot down on the beach. It was a magical day!

Tell us how you met!

We have known each other for most of our lives!! I first met Sam in Kindergarten and became fast friends. We remained friends throughout elementary school, high school and college (even going to freshman year homecoming together!). After college, we were both back home in Sacramento for the summer and began hanging out a lot. Ana was training for a half marathon. During this time, Sam would make excuses to join Ana for her morning training runs and coffee. Fast forward a few months, we were in love. Since then we have battled long distance for a year and a half (DC to SF). Eventually, in 2015 Sam decided to move to San Francisco. The rest is history!

Tell us about the proposal!! How did he pop the question!?

In April 2021, we were in Bodega Bay with Sam’s family celebrating Sam’s 30th birthday and his mom’s 60th birthday. On Friday, we went on a walk to the beach across the street from our Airbnb. Sam proposed on a bluff overlooking Portuguese Beach. Later that night Sam further surprised Ana by bringing her family up for a celebratory dinner. It was so much fun!
