Some couples feel easy the moment you meet them. Like you already know how they laugh, how they move together, how the quiet moments matter just as much as the big ones. Jenny and Joey are exactly that kind of couple. Their coastal engagement session was filled with soft light, salty air, and the kind of connection that does not need to be directed. From the way Joey naturally leans in to kiss Jenny’s forehead to the way Jenny looks at him like she is about to laugh at an inside joke, every moment felt honest and deeply them.
This session was not about posing perfectly. It was about presence. About the way love looks when it feels safe, playful, and grounded all at once.

An Effortless and Romantic Coastal Engagement Session
There is something timeless about a coastal engagement session. The movement of the ocean. The wind that softens everything. The way the landscape reminds you to slow down.

Jenny and Joey leaned fully into that feeling. Their session felt intimate and relaxed, with an understated elegance that matched the coastline perfectly. Nothing felt forced. Nothing felt over styled. It was simply the two of them, wrapped up in each other, letting the setting do what it does best.

This kind of engagement session works so beautifully because the coast mirrors what healthy love looks like. Steady. Dynamic. Calm and powerful at the same time.

And also because when the light hits just right and the breeze catches your hair, everything feels a little more magical.
Why Their Story Feels Like Home
Jenny and Joey met in a very modern way, thanks to Bumble. Joey set his location to Denver before officially moving there, which led to an early connection and a FaceTime date to bridge the distance. Jenny swears that hearing Joey’s voice for the first time felt like remembering someone she had already loved. Joey pretends that is dramatic but secretly loves it.

Once Joey arrived in Denver, they went for tacos the very next day and both quietly knew this was it.
Jenny describes Joey as the calm to her chaos. The kindest soul. The person who makes her laugh until she cries and feel completely at peace with who she is and where life is going. Joey describes Jenny as the perfect balance to him. Where he goes with the flow, she brings intention. Where he slows down, she brings energy. She meets each day with curiosity and joy and pulls him right along with her.

Their connection is rooted in friendship, laughter, and a shared love of adventure. It shows in every photograph.
Why a Coastal Engagement Session Fit Them Perfectly
Jenny and Joey are deeply connected to the people they love and the experiences they share. Camping trips, exploring new places, cozy nights at home, and their dog all rank high on their list of favorite things.

A coastal engagement session gave them space to simply be together. To walk, talk, laugh, and hold each other without distraction. This session felt less like a photoshoot and more like a really good day spent together. That is always the goal.

The Proposal Story That Still Makes Everyone Smile
Joey proposed during a family trip to Sonoma and Napa in February of 2023. Knowing how close Jenny is to her family, he chose a moment that included the people she loves most and plenty of wine, which the Hawk family fully supports.

After a day of wine tasting, Joey took Jenny out to dinner. Before heading back into the Airbnb, he asked if she had seen the photo their dog sitter sent. She had not. The photo showed their dog wearing a bandana that read will you marry dad.

Joey dropped to one knee after carefully setting down Jenny’s leftovers because she never finishes a meal, told her he loved her, and asked her to marry him. Jenny responded by screaming, crying, and accusing him of lying before saying yes.
Moments later, her family came outside and the evening turned into hugs, happy tears, and the kind of joy that stays with you forever.

What Made This Engagement Session Feel So True to Them
Jenny and Joey did not come into their engagement session trying to be anything other than themselves. That is what made it work so beautifully.

Jenny brings warmth, intention, and a bubbly energy that lights up every frame. Joey brings steadiness, humor, and a quiet confidence that balances her perfectly. Together, they feel grounded and joyful at the same time.

They love the simple things. Mojitos. Chocolate chip cookies. Their dog. Music that makes them stop whatever they are doing and slow dance. Those details matter because they tell the real story.
And real always photographs best.

Capturing Connection Through Coastal Engagement Photography
At AGS Photo Art, engagement sessions are about more than drop dead gorgeous images. They are about creating space for couples to connect, relax, and trust the process.

A coastal engagement session is especially powerful because it encourages movement and emotion. Walking hand in hand. Pausing to take in the view. Laughing when the wind does something unexpected.

Jenny and Joey allowed themselves to fully experience the moment. That is why their images feel alive. You can see the comfort, the chemistry, and the quiet joy woven through every photograph.

As they look ahead to their wedding day, they will celebrate at Folktale Winery in Carmel Valley, a setting that reflects their love for meaningful experiences, beautiful spaces, and gathering the people they love most.
A Coastal Engagement Session That Feels Like Them
Jenny and Joey’s coastal engagement session was romantic without trying too hard, playful without being loud, and deeply connected from start to finish. From the very beginning, their time together felt effortless and true to who they are.

More than anything, it was the kind of session that reminds us why we love what we do. Real people, real love, and real moments that deserve to be remembered exactly as they felt.
As they move into this next season together, we cannot wait to continue telling their story.
