Emily and Conor’s engagement session in Big Sur was such a dream to shoot! These two have been together for eight years now. They got engaged on December 5, 2020 on Baker Beach in San Francisco while playing fetch with/walking their dog, Gino. Isn’t that the sweetest? As a Big Sur engagement photographer, I love proposals that happen in plain sight.
I absolutely loved spending the day with them and of course, giving a local Big Sur engagement photographer’s tour of the area, including the iconic Bixby Bridge and some of Garrapata’s hidden trails before finishing off on the beach. Plus, we had super clear skies that totally gave me East Coast summer vibes, that is, it got warmer as it got darker. Read on for all the smiles!
How Did You Two Meet?
“The short story is that we met while attending the University of Arizona. We both worked in the Athletics Department doing Community Relations and Special Events. We were just friends during college and started dating right after Emily graduated.” – Conor
“The long story is that we have a family friend to thank for making our two worlds collide! Phoebe, a college friend of Emily’s parents, oversaw the Community Relations/Special Events department of Arizona Athletics. When Conor was a senior in high school, he and his dad took a trip to Tucson to visit the school. Both huge basketball fans, they toured the arena and ‘Hall of Champions’. This is where all of the school’s trophies were kept. Plus other athletics memorabilia and also where the Community Relations/Special Events department was located).”
“Phoebe spotted Conor and his Dad walking through the Hall and started talking to them and, realizing the primarily female Special Events department could use some more muscle power setting up events, offered him a job on the spot if he decided to attend Arizona. Conor ended up choosing to go to Arizona and took the job with Athletics. One year later, Emily also decided to attend Arizona and reached out to family friend Phoebe who also offered her a job.” – Emily & Conor
What Do You Love Most About Your Partner?
“I love that Emily is kind. She makes me laugh, and is my favorite travel companion. Even though she likes to get to the airport aggressively early!” – Conor
“The two things I love most about Conor is his ‘always have fun’ attitude and caring nature. Conor’s parents joke about how as a child, he never wanted the party to end and always wanted to stay up late with the adults. The same thing is true today. Conor is not one to shy away from a social event or leave a party early, and I love this about him. He has played a huge part in bringing me out of my naturally shy shell. He also cares so deeply about his family and those that he loves. Conor is always putting mine and his family’s happiness and desires over his.” – Emily
