Being chosen as Ariel and Roy’s engagement photographer for their autumn New Jersey Botanical Garden engagement was such a treat! I’ve known Ariel and her family for a LONG time. Seeing her start this new chapter in her and Roy’s love story, and capturing it, was truly an honor. And at the New Jersey Botanical Garden? They couldn’t have picked a more gorgeous place!

Ariel & Roy’s Proposal + Future Wedding Plans

Backtracking just a little bit, Ariel and Roy’s proposal actually took place on the beach! With help from Ariel’s twin sister, Roy was able to make the day a truly special one. To me, as bicoastal photographer, proposals are among my favorite things to capture. They’re like the pages leading up to the next chapter, or like an open gate on a picket fence! You step through, and you have the rest of your love story ahead!

In addition to their autumn New Jersey Botanical Garden engagement, Ariel and Roy are envisioning a late October / early November wedding next year! I’m so excited to see where their love takes them!

A Floral Escape At New Jersey Botanical Garden

The New Jersey Botanical Garden offered so many picturesque landscapes for Ariel and Roy’s session. From the Wildflower Garden to the Lilac Garden, and the Italianate Garden too (those are just a few of them!), all the vivid greenery the venue has to offer really adds a fairytale-like flair to the portraits. All around the park, there are trellises, a charming ceremony area, and lovely antique steps- it’s everything an East Coast hybrid photographer like myself adores for a New Jersey Botanical Garden engagement!

In the wintertime, people often think that because there aren’t many autumn leaves left, it’s not as primed for photos without those striking oranges and reds. I do love the color palette of autumn, don’t get me wrong, but as an East Coast hybrid photographer, I can’t speak of the beauty of bare trees and rosy blushing cheeks enough! Especially in this New Jersey Botanical Garden engagement, bare trees add such a mystical element to photographs. And the wintery flush of color on my couples’ face says it all. What’s a winter wonderland without winter?

Ariel and Roy are without a doubt, a match made in heaven! I’m a firm believer in soulmates and that when you find your person (or when they find you!), you can feel it in your bones that you’re meant to be together.
