A styling kit is a wedding photographer’s best friend! It is a set of various props used to enhance product details. Each wedding photographer will have different items in theirs, but today I’m sharing what I bring to my weddings.
Styling kits are so important because it helps me create those beautiful flat lay images that capture the important wedding details. Inside are props to enhance wedding details such as wedding invitation suites, wedding shoes, and heirlooms.
What is in my styling kit:
- Tono + Co Ribbons – these are perfect for adding texture and color to the photos! Tono + Co. is one of my favorite brands for ribbons.
- Vow books – couples write their vows in these, which makes them perfect to photograph. I typically provide books for my own couples so that they look cohesive.
- Acrylic blocks – I use these to prop up paper in invitation suites so that we create dimension in a photo. These acrylic ones come in various sizes.
- Scissors – these are primarily a styling prop used in photographs. They’re typically not the focal point, but they add texture and design to a photograph.
- Linen board – Linen boards are a simple backdrop for anything that I’m styling. I like to use extra-large sizes like 18 x 24.
- Fabric – If I want to add texture to a photo, I’ll bring velvet or chiffon fabric to use. It’s always good to add dimension!
- Paper backdrops – I use these for close-ups for wedding details like rings.
- Reflector – This is useful for every wedding photographer in case you need more light
I don’t always use all of these props, but I love to have everything on hand just in case. It’s important to mix up what I bring so each wedding is unique. Lastly, I always bring my 100 mm macro to capture all of the wedding details!
What’s in your styling kit? I would love to know! Tell me all about it here.
