Natalie and Brandon are a beautiful, modern, and minimalist couple who chose a secret Big Sur elopement for their wedding day! They wanted to focus on a small, private, and intimate ceremony prior to their formal wedding in October. The plan for their elopement photographs is for them to play as a video slideshow at their formal wedding. Isn’t this the perfect way for couples to enjoy both the intimacy of a private ceremony and the celebration of a reception?! I was beyond delighted to be their local Big Sur elopement photographer.
For starters, Natalie and Brandon both found me on Instagram. They hired me because they specifically wanted a hybrid photographer as well as a photographer who knew the area. We all felt an immediate connection and I helped them with the details of their Big Sur elopement.
Getting Ready
They got ready at the Hyatt at the Highlands, which is a quiet and serene hotel at the beginning of Big Sur. They got ready in two separate rooms and took their time to soak in the sweet and sacred nature of the day. Brandon wore a three-piece suit with a bowtie. Natalie wore a beautiful BHLDN gown.
They incorporated a few key details from friends and family that knew they were eloping. As an elopement wedding photographer, I love capturing these key details from loved ones- it really adds to the special day!
First Look
To start, both of them walked up to each other for their First Look at the Highlands, which overlooks the Pacific Ocean. Of course, they were both so giddy and excited to see each other! First Looks are among my favorite moments to photograph as a wedding photographer. This is because they show the true nature of each special couple.
Ceremony
Then, we all traveled to the ceremony at Wedding Rock, where they exchanged vows under the California sun. Truly, Wedding Rock is one of my favorite spots in Carmel as a local Carmel photographer. More than anything, I wanted to make sure I captured their portraits by the coastline for an incredible way to end their special day!
Finally, I want to emphasize that I sincerely love elopements. There is such a tender nature to them. I adore how intimate they feel, and overall, how they are an honor to be a part of.
